New York City area 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu training

Let's get a roll call of anyone who's interested in 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu in the NYC area. I would be willing to work something out to get a location if anyone is interested. I would need at least 5 or 6 people to make it happen, or a couple people interested in privates. I have to work out the details, but I could get this going if we had some people interested.

I just need at least 5 or 6 students. I'll work it out with Phil to see about subletting some space in his new academy, but if we have enough interest, or even enough for some semi privates, it would be viable for me to get down there for a couple classes a week.

I think John was referring to the new location for The Wat. They just moved to 291 Broadway (off Canal by the A,C,E or 1). Correct me if I'm wrong

I'd be very interested. I already go to the Wat, it would be great to go do some 10th planet there as well.

Yes, the Wat is the location. I haven't cleared it with Phil yet, but I expect to talk to him after the UFC this weekend. I've been a student of Phil's for almost 20 years. If you already go to The Wat, definitely put the bug in his ear when you go.

I'm on long island, and would definitely be interested!! I have the Mastering the Rubber Guard Book and DVD's and I train at some jiu jits school on long island, it's predominately gi!.. Every chance I get I'm constantly trying 10thplanet techniques out in class, and alot of the students are like .. what was that .. lol.. I also drill alot of the basics on a grappling dummy i got from submission master.. it helps out alot, but i really need a few dedicated cats like myself who wanna represent 10th planet in NYC or Long Island

If I can get 10 confirmed for at least a first session/demo for Phil, this could happen. You guys may want to check out the Vee Arnis Jitsu school in Brooklyn (across from Kings Plaza) http://www.veearnisjitsu.com/

The head instructor there, Professor David James is very cool, and I'm pretty sure he'd be open to renting space to an outside organization. You could probably schedule weekly time there. The phone number for the school is easy to find on the website. Professor David James used to host Marcos Santos' Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy in Manhattan for several years and the partnership went well from all I have heard.

I'm currently compiling a list and working with Kru Phil on some details. Thanks for info on alternative locations if we need them. I think things will work out.
And as Kevin said, there are locations all around, I just offered this up as there was nothing for 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu in the city, and I know with guys like Marcelo and Renzo there, it's pretty stacked. This is something as much for Phil as to promote 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu in NYC.

John is working on getting a Real 10th Planet School here in NYC my school is a 10th Planet friendly school and im a Marcelo Garcia student as well as a student of the 10th planet student, one day i hope to become an instructor as well. Ok, making some headway. I Just discussed this with Kru Phil. He's still down. We're looking at a weekday starting around 8:30 PM. We're going to do a trial run first (most likely) to gauge interest and get a head count. Stand by-it's coming!!

Good morning and Happy Holidays everyone. Sorry, but I have been off-grid for a bit trying to take care of some personal business. Here is a quick update: The Wat doesn't look like it's going to pan out as a consistent place due to scheduling. However, how about organizing a workshop or small seminar if one of you interested can get approval to use a space. Contact me in order to work out the details and pricing. If we could work something out to organize a training group once a month for me to come down, that would be a start until a steady place is located.
