Okay, so after 2 and a half years of Jiu Jitsu thinking my ears were immune, I've finally got my first Cauliflower Ear. Its bad, and I'm gonna need to get an ear guard. I'm from the UK, so can anybody help me put on what one to get and/or good places to get it from? I found a "nice" adidas one for £35, and Cliff Keen is also meant to be good right? I cant find any UK online shops with the CK in

Drain that puppy! Or see a doc if you can/need. The ck are the most popular. But I don't wear them, so I can't tell you what's best.

Can't get it drained yet, so I'm icing it right now, any other tips?

No, just drain as soon as you can tolerate it. Once it turns hard your stuck with it...

Go get a syringe and drain it yourself. Youtube it to get a game plan, but you'll probably have to do it several times and getting to a doc everytime isn't realistic. It's really not complicated or dangerous if you keep things sterile and swab. Insulin syringes are to small so get a bigger gage for blood clots. The worst part of the process is buyin the damn syringes and people thinkin your either a junkie or roidin.

Was it from Nathan darcin' you for 2 minutes?

You know, it probably was from Nathan's chokes! It started on the last couple of days of 10th Planet and has got worse, it needs draining badly then :(

And Jon, thanks, but I highly doubt that, but I heard in Japan and Iran you get respect for it for being a fighter

I use this headgear when my ears are bothering me. I haven't ever had a complaint from a rolling partner, easy to clean/adjust, all rubber, protects the ears. 31.00 USD

edit: I heard very negative things about the Adidas ones and bjj when I was doing research on what brand to go with.

Jay JC Chow,

When it come's to ear guards for Jiu-Jitsu you want a pair that doesn't stick out too far from your ears because of the added difficulty they could bring when rolling. ie head escapes. Here are some you might like.

http://www.matmanwrestling.com/

Matman Adult Ultra Softs
Matman Two Strap

http://www.asicsamerica.com/

Asics Quantum's

http://www.brute.com/

Brute no longer make's these but if you can find a pair they are well worth the investment. Mostly if you find them they will be an youth size, that's ok but you will probably have to have the chin strap altered by having a longer one put on.

Brute Shockwave's
Brute Ultra Maxx's

Obviously you could look on ebay to find a pair.

I hope this has been of some help. : )

I attempted to order an ear guard from Matman first, and their company was completely unresponsive to my order, so after several weeks I canceled. An all-around unpleasing experience.

The longer you wait the more cartilage you have to push through and its harder to find the pocket. When it fresh its a simple process and oddly satisfying.

I think a gag ball is missing from that full face headgear.

good video Jonathon. Also "jc" after you drain them make sure you pack your ear this helps A) to stop it filling back up and having to be done multiple times and, B) helps the skin nit back to the cartilage making healing faster

Thanks G!

I woke up this morning and can feel the ear going hard already, damn. Luckily it's not the worst, but it's getting drained as soon as I can get to the docs

And Nathan don't worry, I guess I should have tapped! ;)
