Here's an interesting article in National Geo about the opium war that's being fought in Afghanistan.

Does anybody have any good conspiracy theories to share on the topic? I want to find some underground, non-mainstream, sources about this.

You don't really need underground sources. CNN published the AP story about Hamid Karzai's brother. The guy's been on the CIA payroll for years and he's one of the biggest heroin kingpins in the world. 90% of the world's heroin supply comes from Afghanistan and has for centuries down through the opium trade. There's AP and Reuters video of U.S. troops guarding poppy fields. Right now, one of the most important and expensive raw elements in just about every bit of portable technology we use is lithium. It's rare and it doesn't come cheap. You know where some of the largest deposits of it are? Afghanistan. The mining contracts for lithium... the oil pipeline they've been trying to build from Kyzhakistan for DECADES (a principle reason the Soviet Union invaded in the 80's)... None of it is secret. That's the thing about Afghanistan. Nobody's even TRYING to hide the shit. It's infuriating. You don't need to scour undercover sources or seek out hardline conspiracy theorists or burn out your eyesight on Wikileaks. It's all right there. Go to Reuters and search away. Search AP, The Guardian, CNN... it's all over the place.

Rogan put it really well: "Heroin is absolutely addictive. People that try heroin get hooked. Absolutely. That means you have to sell it. Somebody's selling it. Who? I dunno, but 90% comes from this one place where we have to be 'to save our freedom'?"

Anybody who knows me knows I am a pretty big skeptic. Most conspiracy theories (which don't even properly use the term theory!) just annoy me to no end. Afghanistan isn't a conspiracy theory. It's a conspiracy. It's a number of people organized towards a purpose. We just don't care.

As a nation, we've become so desensitized and bedazzled by the bullshit that we don't pay attention long enough to care that they're not even hiding all of this shit. It's not worth the time and expense to cover it up when you can just get people pay attention to something else. Why spend all that money on a cover up? Make another reality show and people will pay YOU to distract them! We're too concerned with paying fucking Snookie $30,000 an episode to give a shit about what's on the news. Most of the time the "news" is who is fucking who this week in Hollywood; when they do actually go to a story like the one about the poppy fields, we change the channel.

Thanks for all that info! I've been shocked myself at how out in the open all this is.

One thing I was curious about is the connection with Russia. I've read that Russia uses the highest percentage of heroin that is produced in Afghanistan. And it seems that heroin is a much bigger problem in Russia then other parts of the EU and USA. In the below article it's stated that about 1 out of 50 Russians is now addicted to heroin. WTF!! That's crazy.

Also, here's an interesting article about Russia's view on poppy eradication and the US Government's failures in eradication. It's obvious that the eradication programs are being run by corrupt Afghan officials and the US wants no direct involvement in eradication. It seems that the US is turning a blind eye to say the least.
