First 10th Planet in San Diego County!

Hello my fellow warriors!! I wanted to introduce myself, my name is Ryan Fortin. I have been training in martial arts for 17 years, and the last 6 have been focused Jiu Jitsu. I started with GB, and actually had a really great deal! But I saw the way the students were treated, the this is the "bible" type talk, and I didn't like it.
So 2 years ago I started my own Jiu Jitsu school, White Belt Underground Jiu Jitsu! Lets just say I didn't make any friends with surrounding schools, and after a few times of them showing up and challenging me, I knew I was doing the right thing.
The only problem, I was alone! I contacted Eddie about a seminar and affiliation, but there was no way I could afford it since I was only charging $50 a month, with no contracts. So, I got the next best thing, Sean Bollinger.
Sean came down and did a seminar, and I was hooked! I put the 10th Planet logo on the wall next to my bed, and every morning told myself I would open the first 10th Planet in San Diego County! Over the next two years, I would make the 95 mile trip, when I could, to train with Sean, every time trying to convince him to come to San Diego! LOL, well, he finally saw the light, and I did what I said I would!

10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Vista, CA was born!

We still have a ways to go, I am currently looking for a physical location to lease, trying to get our logo finished(all colors look sick with that logo), and all the other startup stuff, but this is the fun part!

Anyways, just wanted to say hi, let all of you know how much I appreciate this sport, this system, and all of you that have made Eddie's dream, and mine, a reality!

WOW, I am a little surprised there aren't very many people from San Diego on this site! Then again, San Diego is a MECCA for traditional BJJ players! This is the same problem I ran into last time! I just want all 10th Planet players to know, you'll always have a home away from home in San Diego!

Like LA and Miami, San Diego is a VERY competitive market. There are a million bjj black belts in these cities so you gotta be a bad muthafucka to survive, especially as a 10th Planet representative. You will have to prove your worth on the competition scene. You will have to become a nightmare at tournaments. That is the only way you will survive.

This endeavor will not easy, but anything worth having isnt easy! All I know is I dont want to let the 10th PJJ family down, so I am going to train like crazy the rest of this year, then hit the competition scene hard for all of 2011 and beyond! I may not win them all, but I'll make sure that every knows who we are, and what we stand for!

we roll all the time! our kinda set schedule is mon-thur 8-10. We start with the "INSANITY" workout, it last about 45 mins. then we roll. but I try to get on the mat 30 mins a day at least just to get warm and stretch! Remember, can't be a black belt unless you can do the lotus with no hands!
