If youre thinking of opening in Albany you should be good. Plenty of distance between Portland and Eugene. What university, OSU? I believe the only other hotbox in Oregon is Portland now

If I had a moon an hour away I'd be there every week.
If I can go Super Saiyan this weekend in Indy I'm going get Cincinnati going (With Eddies Approval of course). I got the mats, the room, and past training partners and new people have already shown interest. I'm reppin 10thplanet hard in Cincinnati guys:cool:
You need to get his approval before starting the process.
Awesome! Time to get that rubber guard crackin in the tourneys! Are there any peeps from Valencia, Spain who want to get together? TP4L
For those that keep asking about Hb info
Ahoy! im looking to start my own hotbox here in northern ontario. i was curious if there is there a minimum mat space requirement? i know gracie garages require 100 sp/ft. im currently in the process of make my own set of mats for my place, i got a great deal on some closed cell eva grade foam and that way i can make them any size i want. ive got about 144 sp/ft of space avaliable to use and i was wondering if that is enough space. also is there an application form to fill out to become an official hotbox?

1. All hotboxes must be approved by me
2. The leader of the hotbox must be an active pro member of this site.
3. The leader of the hotbox will not make any money or profit from the hotbox in any way shape or form.
4. The leader of the hotbox must be sponsored by a 10th Planet Affiliate instructor. Example, Brandon Woolsey will be under the guidance of Coach Herzog, and the Essex Hotbox will be under Sean Bollinger.
5. The leader of the hotbox must meet with his sponsored instructor at least once per calender year.
6. The leader of a Hotbox must have at least 5 competition matches on video where you can see a 10th Planet Logo on shorts or shirt before establishing a hotbox.
7. A Hotbox must not be within 30 miles of an existing official 10th Planet moon.
8. The Leader of a Hotbox may not rank others, only affiliate instructors can rank their students. However, with the Hotbox leaders recommendation the sponsor instructor may evaluate and rank the student.
9. Hotboxes do not own exclusive rights to their city, if a qualified 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu instructor moves to the same area he has the ability to open a certified affiliate. The focus is what’s best for the system as a whole.
10. Hotboxes must state clearly on their websites, facebook pages, etc. that all 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu classes are FREE!
(rules subject to change at anytime)
Thank you very much for the dedication to the system!
These are the old requirements, the new ones are stickied at the top of the forum. There are no restrictions on mat space.
There is a application on the other thread, however ease do NOT fill it out until you have met ALL of the criteria.
Hello! Reading the requirements, I know I'm not qualified to open up a hotbox, but I am trying to start a club at my college where self-defense is taught and I was trying to see if I could use what I learned during my time at 10P to help supplement the classes. I'm originally from Minnesota but now live in the ND/SD area, far from ANY martial art school. I am a 2nd degree black belt in one discipline but find it incomplete without using 10P Jiu jitsu. Any suggestions?
Whats up guys.. Im looking for a current Hotbox list.. I know its around here somewhere but I can't find it. Looking for a Hotbox in the Sacramento area if anyone happens to know of one in the area?
no there isn't any in cali.
Hey Chris, I heard something through the wire that there might be a 10th planet coming around the WPB area, supposedly Henri Hooft is opening up a gym and was brining 10th planet with him. Know anything about this? Also if that's not the case, any hot boxes you know coming around West Palm Beach Area?
Thank
Nothing that I have heard of. Nothing official running in Florida as of right now. Kai Bele put his on hiatus for awhile.
here is the the thread that has updated criteria and locations

What's a hotbox?
To the best of my understanding, a hotbox is a group of local 10 planet practitioners who get together and train where there is no local 10 planet gym/moon (within a 30 mile radius). Hotboxes and their leaders have to be approved before being considered official, and the goal is for a new hotbox to move toward becoming an official 10th planet moon within 2 years; if not, the hotbox is no longer considered official.
The Hotbox is our "Gracie Garage". It dates back to about 2006ish, where Brandon Woolsey and myself where approved by Chris Herzog to have official 10th Planet "clubs". We hosted seminars and drilled 10th Planet techniques, giving an outlet to ronin without a gym. It was a great way to draw interest and spread the word about 10th Planet. Just as our style has grown, the Hotboxes will now grow. If you ever want your own moon, this is the starting point.
I feel like Florida will have a Moon in the next year or two. We have quality people in North, Central and South Florida so its only a matter of time!
I saw an ad for a Certified 10th Planet Instructor. What is the certification process?
I would be very interested in partnering with someone in Central Florida. I'd do it myself if I had the time to spend training with a Moon to get qualified. With work and training to get my Gracie Barra Blackbelt I just don't have the time or money to open a moon by myself. If someone else doesn't step up it may be something I can do in a year or two. I just got to keep my old body together long enough to help bring 10th Planet to Florida.
It's not a matter of if, but when, I'm not big on speaking about things that could happen, but I am working towards being a moon. I've recently delt with some gym politics and drama, but it may have been a blessing in disguise. Fingers crossed but in my dream scenario, Fl gets it's 1st moon sometime this year.
Hi,
I'm just making sure that the current prerequisites for starting a hotbox are on the first post of this thread? I found one list that says you need to be wearing 10th planet logo for 5 matches, and another that says you need 10 wins. Just wondering which it is at this time?
Thanks.
All in bro, future is bright for us. I was conflicted and somewhat sad when the drama went down, but at the end of the day, this is your chance, our chance, to get back the culture that was forgotten, our gym "constitution" was forgotten, but we will bring it back to what it was and i'll be there to help you get that moon, not only cause you are friend/fam, but because I too want to be part of that moon #letsdothis
