the two types of double bagger

i haven't seen any discussion about this probably because it may seem like a minor issue, but what are your thoughts on the two ways to hold the foot in double bagger? i see people like eddie and sean reaching over the top of the foot when they utilise double bagger but sean mentions on the 10pp allstars dvd that you can also reach under the foot like a "double mission control". i've never seen any of the pro 10pp guys utilise this type of double bagger even though they should have the flexibility to pull it off. i prefer to use the "double mission control" bagger because it seems to allows you to still hug your knee to a degree and stay tighter to your opponent. is there a reason why the 10pp pros prefer to go over the foot? is there more to it then i am aware? what type of double bagger do you use?

I reach over the top, and it seems to work for me. Nobody ever really pulls out. but the best thing to do is get a guy to roll with you. and have him let you double bag both ways and see which way is easier for him to get out. And just see which feels best for you.

well after rolling today ive decided the most practical way for me to double bag is to grab my big toe with my last 3 fingers and the ball of the foot with the index finger and thumb

I try to get my ankle if I can. My feeling is that if I'm holding the toe or the foot, there is a risk of injury (like grabbing your foot instead of your shin when cinching up a triangle) and it's just not as strong as if I can get my ankle. I guess it's sort of like why you grab your opponent's toes and not his foot or ankle during the calf crush from the truck or during the swim move. If you've got his toes, there's really nothing he can do; if you've got his foot or ankle he can defend. I figure the opposite is true if I'm holding my own foot. I'm stronger if I've got the ankle. Ankle > foot > toes. I suppose you also have to have the long limbs and flexibility for that...

Thats y im good at it =] flexible and long limbs work great with double bagger. I tend to reach for my ankle from over top because when i use double bagger i dont plan on holding it for to long because the longer i stay in it the longer he has to react and think about a way out of it. If I need time to hold and regroup thats where the invisible collar comes into play and i go to double bagger once ive decided on wat my attack is going to be. With double mission control type i dont feel as if i have a good enough grip but overall i guess it really doesnt matter to me, as long as i have it gripped on and he cant get out im happy. And the pros are just being pros and lazy with it lol =P

Yeah DB was made for guys like us built like spiders! :) I usually go over the top for my ankle if I'm going to go to Invisible Collar and I go around the knee if I'm going to Kung-fu move out of there. I find that if I go over the top when going to IC it stays MUCH tighter and automatically increases the pressure -- which makes getting the tap for IC a little easier. I go around the knee if I'm going to kung-fu move just so that I stay out of my way. :)

EDIT: Also, when I'm going to IC if I go over the top for my ankle I'm assisting my leg curl to keep their posture down while clearing the head. I clear the head, frame hard with my right arm, then bring my right leg over with the assist from my left arm. That really keeps the squeeze tight during the transition to IC.
