Seems like a legit grip. I haven't had a chance to play with it. I know Andy Alexander is lovin it though
Kit is legit. I played around with that last week a bit.
I used to play that grip a bunch. Havent thought about that in years though! I learned a variation from butterfly guard off an arm drag. Ill play with it again and see about making vid. It used to be my jam
Nice! I was taught a similar move two weeks ago off of my Baratoplata game.
kit is fantastic. absolutely love watching his stuff. move looks legit.
I need to try that! :)
Looks like fun
I've been considering trying this grip out. I'm curious, once it's locked in (warning, white belt thoughts commencing in 3...2...), do you think it would be possible to hit a belly-down armbar / swim move combination? It seems like if you went for the armbar, his likely defense would be to push his head down to stop the leg, possibly opening him up for the swim move.
Thoughts?
Anything is possible from this position. Brian Steubner formally 10P Springfield MO was up in Chicago for NAGA and showed us this and a couple other slick things he picked up from Caio Terra's Pans camp last year. Josh fucks a lot of dudes up with this because no one's really put much time into it since it's "Newish"
As for a belly down/ swim move, I feel like you might have to fight your body and your grip as you go to spin around the head. IMO the strongest submission from here is the triangle or omoplata.
Yeah, I slowly came to the same realization. I'm curious as to whether you could reverse the grip, but it might not be something you could keep a hold of.
That or else I just invented the Reverse Great White Grip.
nah, probably not that though, let's be real... ;)
I'm going to try it anyway. Omoplata city here.
Looks legit. Jean Jacques does a variation of this grip when someone pulls out of his overhook, he catches the grip half way out. Loving the looks of this version tho, gonna def experiment with it
Gotta get Kit on your podcast Eddie. Like Scott told you, funny dude. A guessing he'll be over in camp for M4, perfect time! Maybe you can even teach him how to teach his students the lockdown :)
awesome sweep... will work with and without Gi.. will try it today in training..
I've used this grip for a long time, but had no real end-game for it. This is cool.
Thanks for the bump, this looks like a sick grip. Can't wait to play with it.
So thanks for posting this thread. After I first saw this video I started playing with this grip an am now 6 moves moves deep off I armbar, triangles, baratoplatas but my highest percentage is a simple arm drag. I don't use the hug grip... Keep the reverse kimura grip for no gi.
Awesome Grip, i have been using it when im gassed to get to mission control, helps break posture, and i leg curl the fuck out of them. Im trying to get to the gogo clinch with it as well.
I feel like you could go to Pyramid too if you have a good leg curl
I use that grip off of Wizard Guard to go to the back. I have to look into it more...
Lots of this grip goin on in the 10p chi ;D
Thanks for posting this. I will be playing with it Monday.
Been around for years. My instruct show me this when I started doing Barataplatas. He keeps the arm after rolling through and hits the shoulder lock. Also sets it up from a standing collar tie like your going for a Russian/two on one and rolls through for the takedown into the shoulder lock. Nothing is new lol
Ooh, that's nice.
