Dead Zone
That truck entry at the end just changed my game. Savage stuff as usual man.
Where can we find more on this Brent? I want to play around with it!
Like it that last one looks alot like freakahzoids elvis pass to truck
I will be playing with this thou looks like a solid position
The Mendes bros do a lot of leg drag passes but I haven't seen too many upper body attacks except for the back take. A lot of these attacks I've come up with from spending time in the lab playing with the position. There's many more but in order for me to not make too long of a video I had to pick and choose what I showed. Just a disclaimer, I am not claiming to have invented the position or the attacks. It's just the paths I have figured out. I would highly recommend the position. It's a solid dead zone.
loved the choke transitions, thank you very much for posting
would you see any disadvantage in going for the darce?
Project Cauliflower Ear has quickly become as important to my game and development as a student of Jiujitsu as MGinAction and Mendes Bros Online - I honestly can't recommend Brent's videos enough.
This is awesome! Thanks!
Very nice!
Finished the most experienced person in my gym with Side Control -> Pistachio -> Head Arm today. Legit.
Thanks for posting! Before I took a break, I was getting to the pistachio a lot but I was just using it to pass. This is gonna be great once I get back in the gym.
Love the entry to the baratoplata...gonna have to try this.
That baratoplata is a sneaky one.
Are you watching at all for the turkey wrap from them as a counter? I love the position gonna try it out today, just curious as to what other counters should we be weary of if you have had any sneaky counters from guys here?
http://youtu.be/pKKGixMOlkw we train in the gi so much that this pass is really the only pass i've gotten good at :( still gotta work that fly over pass, any solo drills for the flyover?
Was hitting a few of these at training today, the baratoplata and the truck entry especially. Definitely a new deadzone. (for my game)
We played with the position last night. Thanks for the video!
Really good stuff Brent. Forgot how much I liked the position. Thanks
Man, that Baratoplata is hella sneaky!!! Definitely gonna try it tomorrow. Thanks for posting that video, man!
Good stuff Brent. . I use that arm triangle off that position often an the entry to truck is sweet. I Also hit the 'ghetto twister' from there as well.
Personally I have never feared the turkey wrap from there. The way my inside leg is, it is kinda difficult to get the arm fed through there with out me being able to deal with it relatively easily. I would be weary of it if they start trying to dig through for it though. Guys do try to pull that leg through for the knee bar but it doesn't really work for them either.
I'm curious as to Zogs opinion on the matter since he's more of an expert on the turkey wrap.
My Yooper hotbox coach and I were talking about this thread in class Monday. He also mentioned the kneebar as an option. Definitely something we talked about was that you would see it coming, and its not something that I think you could catch them on when you are super heavy on the leg. But I do wonder if its something to consider once you start to transition.
Really hope Zog voices in on it too :)
I asked Zog and he said "Yes early in the transition, once you are tight and pressuring in I think its harder to thread the grip through the back of the knee"
So basically once I settle the chances are slim.
Worked this position and really like the reverse kimura grip and like the options that the rolling reverse kimura give. Genius way to isolate the arm for the darce-aconda attacks.
There's 1 guy at our club who just squeezes his legs together and if I have my tights on, my leg gets stuck, purely defensive on his part but it delays things a bit if I'm going for the rolling anaconda or the baratoplata. Pistachio is definitely a dead zone though, once you're in position there's not much for them to do. I agree, would love to hear Zogs opinion.
EDIT:
That flipper grip works magic.
Do you guys ever mess around with entering into the lockdown from the leg drag position and setting up the Vaporizer?
nice!
dont forget to like it on youtube, there`s only one like!
Nice!
I really like this, ive seen Rodger Gracie do a leg drag and he sits in the Pistachio then passes to side control. Really need to work on some attacks from that posistion, :)
