What is your favorite path if you can't get the Zombie from Mission Control?
I try for Duda and if I have a hard time with that, I will bail on RG and Stomp back to Cocoon with an overhook and collar tie and start working the the Gogo Clinch path.
Pump to arm bar.
i go to the Baratoplata as my first option and if not i try to get to Dead Orchard and work for an arm bar.
Thanks dude! My guillotines SUCK.
Zombie's are a battle, because of that most of my game is based off moves that don't require me securing a zombie'd arm. I'll switch back and forth between hindu control and gunshow.
John Botello uses The Force to get zombies...wicked awesome. Derek Stewart proved it's effectiveness several times over at the Midwest Training Camp last year. Muddy Waters!!!
Pump.
Dig for the zombie and get a reverse grip to try for the arm drag is my usual idea. I've been messing with the brackish waters recently and I love that.
I like to fake like I am losing my clinch and recede from my high guard, and wait for my opponent to start posturing up. As he is posturing up I go for the hip bump sweep. If the hip bump fails, my opponent has his hand on the mat to block the sweep unless he is good at posting his foot to base in which case I set up another sweep I saw a world class black belt using in tournament recently that my team has been using a couple years. But anyway without digressing further if he does post his hand, I use this as an opportunity to pull my free new york.... sometimes a free chill dog if he is a noob or doesn't know about rubber guard attacks.
Off the failed hip bump I like setting up the 100% to the back from guard similar to Marcelo Garcia's basic setup in one of his early dvd's.
Also, I have been trying to level up my meathook to stock. My sensei is really good at it and we both have the long legs for it.
I like going for the Pedro to get the hand on the mat. If not that I like the pump.
I was having trouble against my training partner recently. I wanted rubber guard and he was just super good at keeping his arm straight in under my solar plexus. anytime i tried to move or break his posture, i pretty much winded myself. I broke him a few times but he always got it back until I did something stupid and he capitalised. anyway we talked it over afterwards and thought about a two on one attack on his arm going up and over the opposite shoulder. what I found after trying it a few times is that the guy bases with his other arm when you do that.
ive done it a few times since but pretty much its two on one wrist control (personal favourite but other two on ones might work) and i throw it over my opposite shoulder. as he bases i let go with one hand and grab an overhook from it. If you can, having a foot on his hip and as you grab the overhook. shrimp out. id have the opposite side foot on the hip to the side you shrimp out to so you can throw the other leg up quicker to get into rubber guard. its a speed based move but it works for me and hey might as well get more options out there. :)

If you're really adamant about getting the zombie from (shitty) mission control, this one is my go to.
Double bag to invisible crack head, then mini pump to zombie
What's "the force?"[/QUOTE]
I'll try to make a video of it soon.
Any meat hook players? What about the sweep attempt where Eddie switches to
week side mission, (flower variation I believe), gets them to base then quickly secures New York? Lots of great ideas on here. Zombie is huge in my personal game. I love how Ben doesn't have to rely on it.
I have just started playing meathook after learning the Gogo Clinch path. Lot's to learn. I don't feel unpassable in meathook yet.
People get good at keeping those arms in out of trouble, dead orchard works for us long legged folk. I used to be very one sided with my RG game until my ACL injury, had to adapt and start working the other leg but since the injury healed, swapping sides with the help of crackhead and finding the right angle with my hips with RG has really helped with opening their arm and finding that space for the zombie. If they really start to fight for posture and eventually get it, I have the hip bump sweep locked and loaded and some other options. Lately I'm using more RG than ever because of leg attacks from butterfly and butter half, people leaving their arms open for overhooks when they defend their feet.
i try meathook and the duda. what about the croc! Is that something thats still part of the system. didnt see any mentions of it on this thread.
love this thread!
crackhead - invisible crackhead - forcing the zombie to invisible collar.. or pedro to new york
but i'm really expanding my RG game now.. so i'm looking to work all kind of stuff from the there..
I like getting a reverse kimura grip for the soul purpose of getting the hand to the mat and directly to New York. Gives you a lot of leverage and pretty high% for me so far.
