First match from the weekend at Check Mate Submission Only 4. Played some ham sandwich action, some x-guard and finished with an ankle lock. This was my best match of the day.
Funny part about the Ham Sandwich is that I was actually at my opponents school the weekend prior and showed them all the ham sandwich. Told me after he was being stubborn to tap because of it, and at the time I didnt want to pop his knee to get a win so I moved onto another sub. ;)

2nd match.
I've lost already to this guy at one of our previous events and I mentally lost in this match.
I was tense, I wasn't thinking about what I was doing and more about just not wanting to lose again. You can see me freeze a few times and react in ways i never do in the training room. My mindset was not proper.
I learned a lot in this match about just how much the mind can lead you down a bad tunnel if you allow it.
There is a big difference between the training room and competition. And I will just keep competing until I get as relaxed in comp as I am in training.

My two wins at Check Mate Submission Only 4 both came via ankle lock. This match was against a young up and comer kid who I train with once a week in GB. He took this last match with an existing knee injury that almost kept him off the mat. I did my best to not make the injury worse and to have some fun. I feel we accomplished that.
Also, I didn't lock up the samurai roll to avoid pressure on the bad knee and attacked the opposite leg for the finish. (In hindsight watching the match, I probably should have locked it up first because doing the technique improperly could have actually caused more injury than if i did the slow samurai with control.)
Before the tap you can hear me making sure I was attacking the good leg.
Much respect to my opponent. Kid was young and has a heart of a lion.
Even more tense in the finals, started well. The Ankle lock was deep and his foot popped a few times.
Then I went Outside Ashi, not sure why. Dont do that.

Nice work, Stan. I wish I would have made the drive over for this one.
Thanks for sharing the videos man. Its nice to see other people compete.
Great job, I love it when they have no idea what you are doing in the first match.
