Need help on old school sweep

Hello guys, I'm having some trouble with a guy that figure out that the game works on having the lockdown. I'm able to secure the lockdown and whip up to my elbow. But, when I try to grab the foot for the old school sweep, he just explodes and takes his foot of my lockdown and pass my guard. He can't do it when I'm flat on my back, just when I whip up to my elbows. I feel that this position make the lockdown a little loose. What should I do? Do it faster or pinch more my thighs?

Mix it up with the whip back. Keeps practising on other guys. It is possible that youre doing it correctly and he is simply good at passing off of the whip up. Stop by a 10thP gym is you can.

I'm not familiar with the whip back, how does it work?

The whip back is covered in MTS 69 and Warm-up series E (along with the 1/4 whip). We have whip up, down, back and I seem to remember something called "fat whip" but it isnt in the technique list.

Practice practice practice on lighter lower belts. Techniques that you haven't mastered will rarely work on bigger more advenced guy's
