    Sesamoid injury

Last month I was thrown and when we came down by foot was at a weird angle and both my weight and my opponent's came down on my big toe. I foolishly continued training and by the time I got home my foot, particularly the joint the connects the big toe to the foot was so swollen I could hardly walk. It took about two weeks to heal but I keep re-injuring it in practice. It's difficult to avoid putting weight on it. I would just take a several weeks off and let it heal completely but I really want to compete at the upcoming Naga. Has anyone else had this injury before? How long did it take for it to heal for you?

I actually had my sesamoid bone removed because i couldn't get rid of the pain. I battled it for a couple years and seen a foot specialist who recommended removing it. There is a risk of the joint "breaking down" but the surgery has been great for me. I had it about 6 or 7 years ago and haven't had a problem since

Thanks man! I was afraid of the possibility of having to get surgery but it does bother me a lot. I can't drive off the balls of my feet in top side control anymore because it hurts too much and anytime some grabs that foot, it's very painful. I've definitely lost range of motion with that toe. I'm going to get it checked out next week.
