BJJ to 10th Planet Rank Conversion

I read somewhere that a rank in BJJ transfers to the same rank in 10th planet except for black. The black belt is a 10th planet brown. Is this true? Is this practice still in place? I currently train in traditional BJJ and would one day like to train in the 10th planet system as well. I am no competitor, but I would like to some day earn a Black belt in both systems.

I believe that is correct. The best way to see where you're at is to head out to headquarters and roll with some of the Browns out there and see where you match up. I would talk with eddie, and maybe visit the closest 10th Planet School in your area, and if not, go to HQ get some rolls in, infront of eddie and then see where you're at.

I think you transfer over with the same belt unless your a black belt then you come in as a brown.

Pretty sure at the end of the day it's Eddie's call. Probably have to have a considerable knowledge in the system already before he just gives out brown belts. We all remember Brandon Quick.

It's based on ability and knowledge of the system.

Vinny Magalhaes has been a BJJ black belt since 2005

He's been training 10PJJ since at least 2009 (migth have been longer, not sure)

He just earned his black belt from Eddie last month.

Javier nailed it.
A BJJ black belt in traditional BJJ would still have to learn the entire rubber guard system before master Eddie is going to award him/her a blackbelt in the 10P system. It's a system that is in addition to the regular BJJ techniques.
