    Djent vs Progressive Rock...

Are they the same or different ? Did Prog Rock evolve into Djent ? Is Djent even a genre or is it a guitar technique ? I don't know but this is some technical music.

I love prog-metal, and enjoy playing it for fun, and keeping the chops sharp, but rarely listen to this type just for pleasure. I prefer it coupled with something melodic, vocals or otherwise, like Protest the Hero, for example.

And "Djent" is technically a tone-shaping technique, that's become synonymous with a specific genre of prog-metal. Meshuggah created it.

Agree with what Jerry walker said....AaL and Sithu Aye are sick! Volumes' via album is what I think of when I think of djent though....if you like instrumental rock, check out Scale the Summit or Chon's newborn sun ep

I've heard Meshuggah coined the term djent but didn't Metallica actually create the tone when they did the break down in the song One ?
