    Help me to understand....

    Guys,
I am watching MTS 72: The Mystery Pass, but I can't understand the benefit of the Mystery Pass. Maybe I'm dumb, but you expose your back, Granby then the guy on top clinches your legs and pressure passes you. So what is the goal of the Mystery pass? Can you help me to understand?

The mystery pass is just the double under pass, I'm not sure what the question is.

I think he's talking about the warm up with the granby from side control.

If you granby right you won't give up your back.

The drill itself is just a flow to learn an escape and a pass.

I think that is the confusion. It is a warmup drill, practicing the transitions.

The "mystery pass" itself is the Double Under Pass. The "mystery" is why so many people screw it up.

The sequence Jeremy is describing is from the warm up drills (the side control gramby followed by the double under pass). The side control gramby is for when you are unable to turn into a person, and your only escape route is to turn away exposing your back. If you keep your elbows tights, you can prevent the back take and the possible arm bar. Sometimes you have to give some to get some.
