    Granby side control escape?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AR2h9FWtcAw

So, before warmups became part of 10th planet, I left Rochester. Since then, I've only learned the warm ups based on observation. But since they're not really instructionals, I feel like I'm missing details. Especially for the granby side control escape.

So, is the above video the proper way to do it? Or am I still missing a detail?

Here's the missing detail. It's more of a movement drill than an actual escape. It's great from bottom knee on belly though. Or when someone goes to pass to invert.

Check out Saulo Ribiero's Jiu Jitsu University book too. He calls it the Running Escape I believe. That's where I originally learned it.

It's an explosive movement from the hips, you can hold your opponent's wrist but if you stay t-rexxed during the explosion it's still very effective

    Yep.

It's for sure my #1 side control escape.

its not just an escape from side control though like Tori was saying granbys can be used in multiple situations.
Im most familiar with it used in wrestling as a escape when someone has your back with no hooks, like this,
