Beautiful kimura to the back. I can tell you've repped that like 1000 times. It looks silky smooth.

Since you welcomed feedback, I would suggest that you don't spin to escape toe holds. I could be wrong, but from what I've learned, it's best to boot your foot and use your free leg to kick the hands off. Someone could correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks! I love kimuras and its one of my higher percentage setups. I really enjoy Nathan Orchards variations. The warm-ups variations, etc. Also I wouldn't have been able to sweep as smoothly without the 93 guard first. It gave me the ability to throw his balance off before I rolled and made it even easier to flow with. Definitely a super important part of sweeping successfully for me from that position.

Also, I did try to boot my foot.. He was strong. Straightening it was dangerous because of his ability to knee bar in that position. And hopefully we can get a more detailed breakdown I agree. I do believe spinning with the toe hold and trying to clear your feet out is acceptable and I was defending in a decent fashion up until I stopped defending to attack my own toe hold, which opened up the finish for him because my feet and hips were no longer mobile.

Damn tough moment. It's a game of inches. Sounds like you did the right thing. Toe holds are tough to deal with. Great work regardless.

Thanks! We tried to breakdown the defense to it in class yesterday and its a tough one to get out of it you allow it to get fully locked in. A solid position to finish. I've really enjoyed it with my long limbs.
