I was SORE today, knee still jacked up from the tournament Saturday, wrist bothering me, etc.
LAST thing I wanted to do was train, but 10P Decatur has been going over some sick spiderweb transitions, so I showered up and headed to class. Beginners class was all on the swim move to perfect spiderweb, then arm crush, great class.
Then Eric and I got shark tanked. I got crushed, I didn't perform well at all, unable to move well because of my knee, and we had some GOOD players in the room. but we made it.
A lot of people quit when they hit blue belt. This summer marks 10 years of training for me, and I don't want to stop, but I need to be aware of the reality, blue belt is... just a piece of cloth. just a door. and it means nothing if I forget all the lessons I learned that are poured into it: NEVER give up, mentally, but be aware of your limits, physically. Wins and losses are both learning experiences, but how we react to wins and losses is the important part.
And above all else, PROTECT YA NECK. or, REAP THE KNEE. Can we reap the neck? that sounds good too...
Thanks to BMac, Matt Skaff, and ALL my training partners at 10P Decatur and throughout the system, I literally could not do it without you. The past 6 months have been some of the hardest I've ever endured, and... we're still here, still breaking each others joints and bones.
