This match was by far the one I enjoyed the most yesterday. Nogi is definitely my favorite way to grapple.
I gave up an early takedown and was down 2-0.
When I looked back on the scoreboard i knew I had to get a sweep and pass to get some points back, and that I could not let him pass to put me down even further.
Our team has been drilling a lot of guard work recently and putting in hours on retention. So I kept my guard alive, and proceeded to throw the kitchen sink at my opponent in sweeps, and he was doing a really great job to adjust and not allow me to get the top position. I knew I needed to switch it up a little bit and attempt some submissions as well, which was when I went inverted to lead him into closing the distance with his upper body. This was what eventually set up the triangle and armbar, and allowed me to secure the finish.
