It was a really small, local tournament, so i went ahead and competed in gi also. I placed 2nd in my division. This is me against a judo black belt.

Here is me against a female green belt in no-gi. The match after this was against a ten year old kid that no one really wanted to beat and who also very good and working the point system. it was a fun little tournament, so in the open-weight no-gi section the kid won 1st, with me and 2 others (one of which who placed first in our gi-div beating me, he trains no-gi jj)

So, I assume this was a BJJ competition based on the rules. If that is the case, why is the judo guy wearing a BB when he is clearly not a BJJ BB (no offense)? I can only imagine the heat someone would take for doing that at a major tourney. Unless I am wrong, and this is something like an open grappling tournament with BJJ-like rules?

where was this tourney at? i have been looking for more in the missouri/kansas area. great job staying composed with in the time and finishing the match with a sub. ACHIEVEMENT Unlocked. lol, sorry a little nerd humor for you.

rofl at tiki. haha thanks guys. Matt, the tournament was in bonne terre, mo. Aces..it was a weird local tournament. Weird in that it was hosted by the judo club, but a grappling tournament with somewhat judo based rules. Like 1 point for a takedown, 2 points if feet leave the ground on takedown. points for side control and mount, no points for back control (is there usually?)
