I have been working for the grabbing the body since I first saw that video. It works like a a charm. If you can get that grip. Its way tighter then holding the leg. And it seems like the guy cannot stand up the posture is too broken down once your glued to the body like that. I'm loving that variation and have been trying to get it lately.

Will give the body grab a chance tonight.

Man that either sounded really bad or really good.

just be sure that if you reach under the arm/leg/body and establish your angle, you are controlling his posture with your other hand. i like to grab the top of my own shin in that situation. gives me some elevation off the ground and lets me hit the angle a lot more easily.

The guy Im training under at the moment teaches establish triangle position, pull head down and shove across, hold head with one hand while reaching up and holding/synching in leg to traingle position, cut angle. By cut angle he means you swing round towards the same side as the leg that is over the persons neck, then you hook the persons knee.

Its pretty tight, thats how I got the blood vessels in my eye burst.

Is that what you guys mean by dominant angle?

I have been finishing mine like this for a while now (dominant angle):

Although i have been meaning to try the body lock myself since seeing that last video. The sweep just seems so easy when i grab the leg so if i lose the triangle for some reason I still get points. How hard is it to get under there and grab the body in a live match?? I have short arms and think i might have trouble with it...but could only imagine how tight it would be if I was able to.

Call me old fashioned, but I stick with the traditional pulling down on the head in gable grip. I'm not good at finishing from mount because I have too much leg and am still getting in the reps to set it up from mount, so I'll roll over and finish the traditional way.

Maybe that's why I've had to transition to an armbar or omoplata from there so much lately...

Gabby, that triangle was awesome. I don't usually go for the it unless I'm controlling their leg, if they free that leg I go for the body lock. My arms are short too but I can get there pretty easy.
