Without test labbing it, it looks simple yet effective. How many reps have you gotten with it?
If only getting the hand to the mat was that easy lol
He has a whole series on the "Rat" guard. Been workin' it about a year. I'm in it almost every rolling session at least once. I can hold people in it to keep posture broke, but that is about it. Very stale position to move from, I use it with a body triangle for a very tight clinch. Might be ok in MMA for a major stall. You can go right to chill dog, but it is tough because the persons shoulder in usually in my throat. The hip bump sweep worked at first, now nobody sits up. If your really good @ butterfly guard, it might be worth trying. I'm spending my time drilling the butterfly sweeps, once I get great at that this position might become more usefull. If your a kimura from closed guard player, then it is right there from a failed attempt. Big negative. If you let go and he gets past your guard, your already caught in the head and arm choke.
From playing with it in class today it looks like there are some transitions for free Kung Fu. Looking forward to playing with this in the future.
I haven't used it much. Thought Rat guard was fuckin funny name tho LOL
Looks interesting but getting the hand on the mat and the head trapped are very big fights. Without addressing that, this move looks like its in a vacuum.
No way, didn't you see the video? You just push his head over and his hand goes to the mat. ;)
