Gotta switch?
I been training mma for the last 2 and half years all with the same team and i got big into the 10th planet system in like Sept. I have been trying to find anyone close to me that wants to also train and drill the system but have had no luck. Recently i found a guy that is teaching a class about an hour away from my house but he said if i wanna train with him i have to switch to his team and not affiliate myself with my old team while im fighting. Is this the sacrifice i have to make to learn the system or is it just this guy's mentality? Are all 10th planet instructors like this?

No, and I'm curious to know which school you went to.
However, I'm sure there are a few variables being left out.

ya it was wierd to me because i see guys from different teams and backgrounds coming to seminars and on the MTS episodes. He told me that he had a background in striking and the team had another striking coach that i could train with. His reason for this attitude was that he didnt want anyone to rip off 10th planet. He said it would look bad if i was training at another team and started pulling rubberguard in my fights.

What school did you go to and who was the instructor you spoke with?
-
Hmm, I don't think he is allowed to do that. Jared Carlsten trains at PKG and trains 10th planet so I'm not sure why he would say that

From my understanding, that is the opposite of 10th planet mentality, every 10p head and brother i've encountered has had the mentality of wanting to evolve the art and spread it around as much as possible, and support/endorse cross training at multiple facilities as a way of growth of both the individual and both facilities involved to have new people, new techniques, and more development...
As Chris keeps asking, what is this teachers name and the name of the school? Is this person an official 10th planet teacher at an official moon or hotbox, or did he study it under a belted teacher or student, or just someone claiming to be framilier with the 10th planet system through practice?
I drive an hour everyday to go to my local 10p, and it's totally worth the drive, but I don't know if I would recommend that kind of commute for a facility that isn't a real 10p moon/hotbox or a school your sure your going to love, especially if your cutting ties elsewhere to join.

I dont remeber his name but its not an official school. he told me he is trying to get afiliated and that he will be opening a new school soon. Its in fort smith, arkansas.this is the same feelings i had. i thought there were fighters that trained at 10th planet schools and went elswhere as well.

Doesn't seem like the right kind of attitude for someone trying to get an affiliation or for someone supporting 10P period. I would suggest trying to build your own hotbox at your current team, which of course would give you greater ability to bring in partners. Start testing the waters with your team to see if this might be a possibility. If you can awesome, if not just keep reppin 10P until people start comin up to you and asking about that tricky rubber guard shit or your 10P patch. When you are doing that kind of stuff you will be surprised how many people start asking questions and eventually you get them to come down and train the system.

He did say that i could train with him if my coaches would agree to merge with his and form one team but most of the guys i train with arnt interested in 10th planet that much which is why i wanted to train with him lol. i dont know im just gonna keep reading and watching and learn as much as i can for now. thanks for the input guys
