I'm more of a JDS fan than I am a Mir fan, but I'm more of a BJJ fan than I am a striking fan, so I'd shit my pants if Mir pulls guard and actually wins the title from there.
That said, it's easier said than done on a guy with foot work as good as JDS.
I didn't see the second overeem/werdum fight, but didn't werdum try pulling guard in that fight? If so, there's the argument against pulling guard, but honestly this sounds like a really solid strategy on Mir's part. It's enough to make me believe he has a chance.
Has JDS ever even gone to the ground? This is a great idea because Mir is levels above JDS on the ground. Im actually pretty interested in this match. Very few HW fights interest me
Same here. I actually like this one better than the Ubereem matchup. I like to see style clashes. With the Reem fight we knew it was just going to be a stand up fight. This one might be a little more varied.Quote:
