Submission Tourney Idea
Hey, I just wanted to bounce this off you all here for a minute and see what your thoughts are on this. As some of you are aware, I'm promoting a new submission tourney in Atlanta on March 23/24 (www.KakutoChallenge.com). We anticipate running these in 5 or 6 cities in the SE so that we hit them all a couple of times a year.
With that in mind, we are starting to prepare for our second, third, and fourth events and trying to plan for improvements and additions. So, I had this crazy idea that I think might be really neat--not just a gi/no-gi division, but rather an Absolute "Street Clothes" Division (sub only)---basically, the attire is jeans, a t-shirt, shoes, and socks. We would only allow intermediate and above competitors. They get 8 minutes for submission-only. No sub, no advancement. What do you all think of this idea? Is it stupid or does it sound like it would be a lot of fun to test yourself in? Do you think it would be fun to watch? I'm particularly interested in opinions on the attire (street clothes) and the twist this would bring.
I'm all ears and really appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance!

Sounds cool, the only downside is the mats. Zippers and buttons tear mats and generally speaking, mats ain't cheap.
Other than that I say go for it!
