I can never get the submission with it, but we have one beastly blue belt at our club that is deadly with the rat.
It's my go to for guys with giant necks/shoulders. I feel like using my whole body to jam their shoulder into their neck is usually easier than fighting for a rear naked or north south plus I feel it catches people off guard.
I attempt it when guys will roll to their back when defending the darce but really can't get it.
I do it only when it's right there and only when it's sneaky..but I love it!
Been using it a lot. Herzog has a video that helps with the finish. You really have to crawl your bottom arm through all the way to get a proper choke. It's a great move to pair with the darce as someone already said.
If I'm there I either run it to a darce or switch to a north-south choke, so I don't really use it. I used to use it.
