I swear Luta Livre doesn't get enough good PR in the US, it's an awesome fighting style. Essentially it's Brazilian Catch Wrestling and very complimenting to 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu.

Its also funny how Jiu Jitsu in Brazil used to make fun of Luta Livre guys for not wearing the Gi and now they have No Gi Jiu Jitsu...
Its obvious to me that Jiu Jitsu like it was brought over, basically got dropped for Luta Livre (No Gi)...
Also in Luta Livre they like to finish their opponents, not go after points...
Prime example of this is Toquihno, dude has a BJJ black belt but originally came from a Luta Livre background and gets that tenacity and agressive finishing ability from all the leg locks he practiced while studying Luta Livre. Just like in Catch Wrestling if they catch a leg or an arm they will grab it with intention of ripping it off. It sounds like an awesome opportunity for 10th Planet Vista. :)Quote:

Well, It's definitely not that similar to catch wrestling... But I agree with the point I believe your trying to make. I also agree that it is a great compliment to 10pjj. 10pjj is anything thats a quality nogi/mma grappling move. So ya, those nogi Brazilian guys probably got lots o goodies! I like luta livre much more than anything in a gi! Hehe.
Honestly wouldn't mind doing that seminar...
I was with you entirely until that last sentence. What a broad generalization. When you name the best jiu-jitsu guys at ALL of the belt levels, gi or nogi most of them go for the finish.Quote:
