Stinkey protein shakers

Seriously, anyone who supplements knows what I am talking about. I am very diligent with my protein shaker, as far as cleaning it out after every use, but my kids get a hold of it and have a shake, and they don't do dishes or even rinse things out....
So I pulled my shaker cup out of the cupboard today and can barely stand the smell of it!
Anyone have tips on how to get that stentch out of the plastic?

I happen to know from backpacking that you can try alternating between lemon juice and backing soda or other acids/bases. Often with plastic youre fucked, some of the more flexible, opaque plastics will de-stink after a week in the sun but he clear ones can become brittle.
