T Shirt grading system

I remember years ago reading that Eddie would give coloured T shirts instead of belts

I was just wondering when this changed n why.

Just out of curiosity

He still gives belts. Makes sense to have rank shirts since we are no gi and would actually wear the shirt where the belt just sits home in a closet.

When Eddie did a seminar with us in Indianapolis, we did both for my students. When he promoted me, as the Moon Head, he presented a belt to me.

I got a Belt size A7 :)

Yeah I know he does belts. Just wondering if he still gives the shirts or if he's stopped that :)

I was just watching that video of the instructor from Valhalla gym moaning about nogi guys having belts n it reminded me of Eddie giving t shirts years ago :)

If I was to ever be promoted by Eddie I would want a belt not a shirt.

He's always given belts. There is a video of him promoting me to brown, back in 2009 with a shirt because he didn't have a belt with him.

I got belted with a shirt for my blue(because he didnt have a belt) a few years ago but my purple was with a belt. I belt my guys with belts just incase they need to beat someone with a belt or enter a gi comp at some point.

I would rather get promoted with a belt and buy my shirts to me the belt has more significance. All my medals and acomplishments in the sport get hung up on my wall> I was never able to compete in HS sports so these are the only sport achievements i have and mean alot to me. Belt for the win :)
