So he basically does a section based around the London position, right? The whole time I was thinking the guy should just cartwheel around.. Did anybody else watch that?
I find it interesting that nobody has an opinion on this guy forming an entire guard based on a position that was removed from the 10th planet system because of it having clear and exploitable weaknesses.
hahahah, I hit the 13 min mark, and jake was like show me this guard. I couldn't believe it!. It just seemed a loser version of the rubber guard, london came to mind right away too. But I will ask is using the gable group(palm to palm, hand to hand, still hugging the knee,), as strong as holding down on the leg and hugging the knee aka chill dog?
It is hilariuos though such a top teacher such as shawn(from a classical gracie background), is unknowingly supporting the rubber guard techniques after it getting bashed so much from the gracies. chuckle.
Budo_jake,
i guess you have followed 10th planet a while. Do you find it curious that shawn's guard was the london position which wrongfully or rightfully was thrown from the 10th planet system. Did something along those lines cross your head when he was showing it too you.
Funny you posted this Coach Neale put me in london yesterday. it was effective cuz of the size difference.
I remember hearing something about the london position but I don't recall why Eddie didn't like it.
Was there a perceived weakness in it or did it just not fit into the RG flow?
Anyway Shawn's been using the position for a long time and he has a lot of go to moves from there -armbars, omoplatas, triangles. I haven't played around with the position much so I can't comment on it's effectiveness. I can say that some people that aren't as flexible seem to benefit from the Williams guard more than rubber guard. For me flexibility isn't much of a problem.
i really enjoy the shows on budovideos and the products i received so far from them , am looking forward to getting more dvds and some gear really soon
