Money!
anybody else here know Ostap?
the last time i rolled with him was earlier this year. wicked good. someone to really watch out for in the next couple of years.
Good details here.
I usually try not to comment much on the jiujitsu stuff being newer and all but i dont really think much of it. I call it spiral guard, i only go to it for the sweep that everyone does . I know they aren't as easy to get to but normal dlr and x-guard seems much better for me. These positions just aren't great outside sport jiujitsu imo but honestly im a complete novice at them.
Marcelo has a knee slice-like pass that pretty much kills it anyway. If you get to my back from RDLR it only because i did a lot of squats yesterday.:)
Sprial was one of my goals for 2014. Played around with is all year, but haven't put in the time need to add it to my game. This vid makes me want to make December Spiral month. I going to spiral out of 2014. Thanks for posting this motivational vid. I am mainly concered about having another defends for knee slice besides mini-stomp.

NoGi Grips:
The same as an Armdrag.
(In reference to the video)
Your left hand above Uke's left elbow. Your right hand controlling Uke's left wrist.
Nah, spiral is a huge tool for any open guard player, and very applicable for MMA or even just self defense. Ricardo de la riva made the dlr guard for vale Tudo. If you play spiral correctly, it answers a lot of huge problems guys with good pressure passing present.

The sweep works fine for me until it comes to establishing the top position.
Typically, I toss my opponent with my grips, then during the sweep I lose my grips, thus creating a scramble where no one has a significant advantage.
My thoughts with these results have always been: At least I'm stopping the pass
