Josh Barnett side choke defense

Just checked out a judo video from the public library made by Hal sharp. It is excellent. It shows clips of his judo masters from Japan demonstrating their moves and throws including arm bars and triangles ect.. One of the techniques was the exact same side choke defense that Josh taught in the the newest mts. I thought wow how cool is this. It is got me thinking about how this stuff has evolved into the sport we have today.

All of the teachers in the video we're from the early fifties and in Japan. you might be able to get the video on Amazon or at your local library system it is fun to watch and worth the time...Peace guys,

Yup I've been teaching that same defense for years. You can go to a waki gatame (Arm pit arm bar), reverese kimura like Josh showed, sit out to the back or to scarfhold when they roll out.

Last night Jean Jacques showed me a beautiful counter to the counter of an arm triangle. The Shiek showed it to him and I will show it to yalls on mts :-)

Wow...from the Shiek. I'm extremely excited about this. When JJ Machado and the Shiek sit down and have a casual discussion about grappling, the universe stands still and time stops.

you could probably spend your life dissecting the evolution of moves, even while the continue to evolve in front of our eyes.
