For me pre comp is about keeping my mind right and staying super calm and collected until about 5-7 mins out from my match. Prior to that I'm listening to some Daft Punk, Justice, Skrillex, Nero, Glitch Mob. Then when my name gets called and it's getting close to go time, I put on a The End of Heartache by Killswitch Engage and I just go out there and do my thing.
At the gym we listen to everything. We try to stay consistent with Hip Hop/Hard Rock/Metal/Electronic Shit and everything in between.
90's hardcore east coast rap is competition style rolling in the school, electronic music is flow rolling and creativity, aggressive ass dub step shit for competition drilling. That seems to be the formula lol
anything by tool or NIN is a good place to start!
Funk music before I compete. James brown was pimpin before pimpin was pimpin
I listen to Bob Seger "Turn the Page" everytime before I compete
I don't do music at comps, but during class could be anything, normally some remixed Asking Alexandria or Swedish House mafia, Knife Party
During rolling or sparring I like to listen to Rap and Techno. It's really nice to catch the rhythm and go with the music. However, I find this gets me too psyched before competition, and I'll usually listen to some 70's-80's pop to stay calm.
