Damn you rubber guard!

I was running late for class the other night as my day job which pays the bills ran late, so I had one of my students stretch everyone out while they waited for their instructor to get his ass to class, (this almost never happens, so please dont think bad of me). I got there and di a quick change and jumped right into teaching rg basics through omoplata, emphasizing proper squeeze and clinch. today I feel as if every muscle in my legs has been worked slam out. I cramped al night last night and couldnt sleep for shit. lesson learned, stretching is crucial before the start of every class or old mr. rubberguard will punish you later.

I always hurt myself if i don't stretch enough, im still working on my flexability to so i don't know if i hurt myself from possibly forcing certain things or just not enough stretching.

I do a solid 20-30 minutes of stretching before class every time. Not only does it prevent injuries and soreness, but being really loose takes my game to a whole new level. Stretching is SUCH a critical aspect of rubber guard game! It's so much easier to secure mission control when my knees and hips are loose because I can just swing my leg right into position... can't do that if I haven't stretched out. Anyway, that's my stretching endorsement hah.

It's because you're old. Btw, you should give us (or me) a list of stuff to do if you're ever late again, though I rather enjoyed the 30 minute stretch block.

Ive been in martial arts for over 25 years and have backgrounds in many styles, including traditional jj and bjj. I list my white belt as my rank in tpjj as this is my passion now. I have been training the system for bout two years and within the last year have really focused on it. Neale Hoerle from tpjj lynchburg is who I train under and he says that I am close to being ready for my blue. there were some things that he wanted me to work on which I have been doing and next sat, I hope to be able to show them to his approval. Ive been teaching mma for bout six years now, and recently started really teaching tpjj as the main grappling art. Hope this clears it up for you.

Instead of doing a long stretch I'd like to warm-up my body with different drills. Stretching for me comes after the class(es).
