Eddie's match @ 10:25. Wow, they only talked for like 6-8 minutes on the main event and didn't go over the modified truck/100% position. And they didn't really explain enough about the vaporizer nor did they test it on camera. Then the rest of the episode they're just talking about "different filters". idk about this one. What do you guys think?

I think they gave Eddie a shit load of props.

i disagree with them on their filter. rubber guard is a lot mroe about angles rather than flexiblity. if you have the angle its unlikely that there is any abnormal stretch. anyone ive shown rubber guard to, never have a problem with it. and then deep half is way better than traditional half. clinching tight is way better than giving them an easy shot.


aside from that. these two are absolutely amazing. i love the breakdowns. awesome that they didnt show much bias either way and broke down the fights well.

I have to disagree with you isaac, there's a level of flexibility that's needed to do rubber guard, especially when you get into positions like invisible collar. The basic path might be okay for people who aren't too flexible, but even Eddie says you need to be able to get double lotus to even get a black belt. Lots of guys I know can't do it.

So in saying that, I can see the gracie brothers point and the original goal to make the techniques universal to all body types, etc. But I also know that you can increase your flexibility through a lot of time and commitment.

Anyways, I do love these guys and their breakdowns, but I did sense they were trying to be overly pc, but can't blame em for that

Agreed. I can't do Invisible Collar -despite practicing this system for 4 years now. Eddie has often said, "Flexibility can save your ass". The Jailbreak that he used against Royler in the first match is another technique that requires more flexibility than I have. (I can do it against a sloppy side control, but not against a proper side control).

That said, overall the "Rubber Guard" does indeed require less flexibility than many people think.

i think they tried to be as not bias as possible.
