hey I just got the footage of my first no gi / blue belt tournament
was wondering if you guys could suss it out and check out my technique and give me some pointers
I train in Sydney, australia and i dont have a local 10th planet gym. any help is greatly appreciated.

I think the problem was in the semifinals, right?
When you went Rubber Guard, you had a full New York, but you didn't have your right foot on his hip (as far as I could see), and even so you tried to go Chill Dog/Kung-Fu-Move when you had no control over his left side, so you basically gave him the pass. I think that was the mistake that cost you the fight.
Again, bear in mind I'm only a beginner in 10P. I'm pretty sure the more experienced players will give you detailed insight.

good job , just get tighter on your rubber guard and try to clear the neck as fast as you can when you are in new jersey which is half guard ny

Yes, in the second match you did miss the foot on the hip when you got to new york. After he stuffs the right leg, I would go straight to meat hook. I go there very quick these days (mostly from some form of half/z guard, or jersey). If you went to meat hook instead of clearing the neck you would have stopped the pass, he wouldn't have been able to pull out so easily and you could have threatened with a triangle all at once. That also sets you up to clear the neck if he puts his head to far down to block your right leg from coming up.

You went for New York but you ended up in New Jersey. You don't want to be in Jersey.:p
you have a good reach and flexibility, next time work that meat hook. You could have easily transition to a triangle from there.
