10th planet for children?

I was just curious if 10th planet HQ would be a good place for a young kid to train or if it is geared more for adults? I know the technique is fine, but i just meant the atmosphere. I live in ohio but I'm making my way to LA in the near future and was wondering if its a place to bring my nephew or if it would be better to let him stay with my GF during those couple hours when i went to class. Either way is cool i just didnt want to drag him in if he'll be learning a new vocabulary or if discussions there are typically "R" rated. :P

How old is your nephew? There are Moons who are kid friendly and some have actual kids programs like Riverside and Burbank.

He's about 7. I didnt really plan on him learning a ton, But i thought it would be cool for the experience. Though im not sure his real motives behind wanting to go. the convo we had went like this "Hey, when we go to LA to you want to go to a gym with me and see some fighters and learn how to fight like them?".. his responds "Is Anderson silva going to be there?" lol.. (we dont have the same taste in fighters, just wanted to throw that out there). so i said "no, but Joe Rogan trains there".. "Oh, thats cool too. yeah i want to go". I'm guessing by his personality it'll pretty much be him showing up hoping to see someone he recognizes.. then choosing to sit in the corner and watch bc he's too shy to roll with anyone lol. But if its not kid friendly its no biggie, ill just let him come with my gf when its over and let him see if he recognizes anyone.

Kids have come to HQ before, both just watching and a few who have trained. Sometimes the language isn't so kid friendly, even when the guys are aware there's a kid there, they can forget. But if he is a fight fan, it is a pretty cool place to come. You never know who's going to be there, there are a number of pro fighters that show up on any given day and the fight team and random fighters are always training. If he wants to roll, someone will roll with him. I'm small, I always roll with any of the kids that come in. Its pretty much up to you, if you're ok with him being exposed to an adult environment at the chance he might meet someone and get a pic and an autograph, then bring him. If you want him to be able to take a class with other kids, go to one of the other moons where they have those classes. You'll both be welcome at any moon! :)

I took my 10 year old brother to my training (we are 16 and older). He was well behaved and shook hands with the head instructor. We did pads, and he kicked me savagely in the nuts. Then while I writhed around in the fetal position trying not to vomit, he and the head instructor stood over me and laughed their heads off. They may have high fived, I dont know, eyes full of tears and that.

I would leave him at home if I was you.

We have a few kids classes down at 10th Planet Sherman TX and most of the real competitors aren't over the age of 15. Jacob Harris recently won the expert division at NAGA Southwest championship in the 9 and 10 year old class. Jacob, Dylan Doolittle, and myself are competing in the expert division at NAGA Worlds in December. We will be reppin' 10th Planet of course.

This is true. Mr. Craig's 9 year old was flashing the gang sign and yelling "10th Planet Bitches." This was as he wore his "boobies make me smile" shirt.

my son rion trains at 10th planet riverside a couple times a month, he wants to go to hq to meet and train with eddie some day.

if anyone plans on bringing a kid to hq let me know when you are going and maybe i can bring my son so they can train together.

my son is 12, but he is small for his age (only 60lbs), he loves to train and uses 10th planet moves daily.

My kid loves JJ, and always want to show me 'some new move he came up with'. Haha!

Somehow, he equates EB with some type superhero character, and always asks, "if such and such fought EB, who'd win?". Names include Marcelo, GSP, Shane Carwin, Borck Lesnar, (of the last two I point out the EB won't stand a chance) lol..

As any father can dream, I am ecstatic that my kid s getting into what I'm into, and i hope his interest grows over the years (that's the true blessing the Gracie's have); and I am into EB's teaching -- pure genius! Bravo's way of teaching the half guard really jumps starts your overall half guard understanding, for example. Plus, the way he deals with students is an advanced version of educational democracy that they advocate in educational grad schools -- very revolutionary.

But, I don't let my kids cuss, or stare at half naked women. At such an early age, obscenities can be a real slippery slope, not for all, but for most kids; and I don't want the problems some parents I know have when their kid get older. Therefore I won't let my kids anywhere near this site. :)
