i've been thinking about it a bunch recently as well.
that said, bjjscout mentions something at the end about there being weaknesses/cons to it.
off the top of my head i like it from the closed guard when you get a leg underhooked when you are having a hard time breaking posture.
Everything's situational for sure. I specifically think this is the best counter to a really explosive double leg that I know about, though, and that makes me happy because I'm a bad wrestler.

and i really liked that variation with head control like from a failed guillotine when your opponent counters by hopping over your legs (7:48)

BJJ Scout is an unbelievable resource!
Before, he was just breaking stuff down that nobody had really ever analyzed so closely.
Now, he's telling people what techniques they should be developing to get ahead of everybody else, and a lot of people are going to follow his advice.
On some scale, he's actually shaping which branches in the grappling tree get fleshed out first.

Seems like the other guy won't have much control over your hips. I think a toe hold would be a relatively small risk, but I guess it would depend on when you're trying it. As the video shows, Xande will pull this in top-level competition from time to time.
