My brothers, I will be in Chicago (Hyde Park area) from July 11-22. Can y'all recommend a place to train? Preferably one that has many hulking tatted-up heavyweights.
I've been to Josh Passini's place, and I'm sure I'll make it up there once or twice, but somewhere closer would be nice. Has anyone been to POW, the Vianna Brothers' place, or the Ralph Gracie affiliate?

The closest to Hyde Park are Valko, Victory, and Brazil 021. Not much further past that is the Carlson Gracie Headquarters, which has some big guys and a few of the blackbelts are 10th planet friendly and extend invitations for us to crosstrain. There is alot surrounding that area, but at that point your only 5-10 min from 10p Chicago as well. Also any of the Alliance gyms in the area are super 10p friendly and for the most part have invited us to cross train there anytime, but I don't think there is one near where you will be. If you endup hitting up carlson let me know, I'll hitup the cooler of their instructors and see if they can arrange for some larger guys to be in when you go in.

Chicago Fight Team is straight west of Hyde Park and may work too. A really nice Carlson Gracie black belt teaches their gi classes and would probably let you come in no gi.

Thanks for the great info, guys. I'll go to Pete the Greek on Thursday and Carlson Gracie HQ on Friday at noon. Other than that, I'll go to Victory and of course 10th P. Variety is the spice of life, after all.
Enjoy LA! I actually live in Fairbanks, AK now, so I won't be there. I will definitely do the New Breed competition. I haven't competed since my abortion of a performance at the ADCC, so it'll be nice to just jump back in and get my feet wet.Quote:
