Our sub only comp results, data and vids
Hey gang, our first tourney went pretty well. Everything played out much like I had wanted. That is The best people on that day were going for the money in the final round. It was an 8-man round robin style sub only. We had 3 brackets, men's under 160, mens over 180 and womens. You received 3 points for the sub, 1 point each for draw and 0 for the loss. After everyone went against everyone once we totaled the points, top 2 point earners went in super final for the cash in each bracket. In the under 160 the finals were determined in the 7th round. Everyone went for the subs. My person goal is to have a local tournament format that encourages people to go for the sub early on in their BJJ journey. And to have a local tournament that was fun for spectators to watch. Seriously, out of 28 matches in the under 160, only 6 of them were draws. In the 180+ only 5 out of the 21 matches were draws. We had awards for top 10 fastest subs and a $25 fastest darce award. Cash was awarded for finals match. The winner of the under 160 had a second round loss due to vomit, that would have eliminated him from most comps. He regained himself and was ready to sub some people to get himself into the finals!
The two men's finals ended in subs and we had to use Eddie OT rule to determine the winner of the women's. We'll post more vids as they come in. Great job to all for putting on an exciting show!!
