He's not so much saying EBI rules suck... more that he thinks his rules are better.
And to be fair, they do sound pretty good.
His point tourney format is better than IBJJF but it's still point Jiu Jitsu. You can pass, then go back in guard, then pass again and so on til you get 12. Rorion Gracie invented those rules in 98. He hosted a Gracie vs Machado tourney back then, we on 23 out of 26 matches. Not a bad format but quite a few matches went 45 minutes and an hour and a half.
Taken way out of context. Jeff enjoyed EBI and on Eddie's podcast told him it was one of his favorite events he's ever done. He's said it since then too. The dude is promoting his own tournament in a small ass pond. He's also a goofball and doesn't take much serious.
I'm surprised that some of you think that he thinks that the rules at EBI suck. I didn't hear anything like that at all.
He didn't say the rules suck. He said his were better. Not even close to the same thing.
