sticking puzzle mats to walls (home gym)

Hey everyone! I am trying to build a better home gym out of the small room I dedicated for jiu jitsu. I have puzzle mats for the floor. And I also have more for the walls. However I don't want to glue/nail them to wood panels and then screw them in or cause and permanent damage as I rent. Any thoughts on some way to get padded walls without damaging them? (We don't wrestle against them, they are more to protect us while rolling on ground. They only need to be a few feet tall if that's easier. I do prefer 4-6 feet tall though. Any and all suggestions would be great

Look into "French cleat" probably the least invasive method to hang stuff on walls. That'll still require you to drill holes in your wall but it's only one strip of wood and it makes it a breeze to remove. Paint the strip the same color as the wall and it will be barely noticeable. What kind of wall do you have? Concrete or drywalls?

Make sure you when you drill that you put those screws in the beams. Get yourself a stud finder or go oldschool and knock around. You'll hear and feel the wall being sturdier. I dunno the U.S. building code but the beams should be at regular intervals so find two and you should be able to figure out the spacing

You're going to destroy that dry wall if you put mats on it, people will go straight through the puzzle board and the dry wall will be toast

Yea stud finding I'm good at. Just was hoping there was an easier way. Some sticky puddy type stuff since mats individually are fairly lightweight. If I could tack em up fairly well I'd rather go that route. But nailing is not too difficult to cover up later as well if I have to

This is what I used to hang my wall panels and mirrors at home. I used MDO plywood as a backing material for the pads/mirror.

We never try to lean on it or add ANY weight. Minimal accidental bumps. However wood behind it will prolly needed to be done
