Hey guys, won my first competition by using the electric chair :)

Hey guys and girls, let me introduce myself first. My name is Dusan Spica, I'm 20 years old and I'm from Serbia. I've been training Luta-Livre for about a year and a half now and in the last 3 months I have been really into researching 10'th planet techniques. My all time favorite grapplers are Eddie Bravo and Ryan Hall.

So I started off by getting the dvd's, the new Advanced Rubber Guard book and subscribing to Mastering the System. Obviously that is a ton of material to absorb so I really focused on the lockdown and some of the basic rubber guard paths. Combining that with my regular closed guard and deep half games has been really really interesting. I competed for the third time in my life at the Bosnian Grappling Open and won my first gold medal in the Basic 77kg division (for people who have been training for 2 years or less). I won two out of 4 matches by Electric Chair. I will give you guys the footage, but my friend was a retard hahaha and the footage is pretty bad, hopefully you see what's going on.

As always, feel free to critique everything, I'm a major newbie and I need a lot of work on everything. I'm in the Bad Boy shorts and rashguard.

Took you all of 5 seconds to tap the guy in the quarter final after you hooked the lockdown. Very nice.

I'm guessing neither of those guys had been in a lockdown before. Must be nice when your opponent has no clue what you're about to do to him. How do you defend what you don't understand? Royler much?

These wins remind me of Eddie v Royler in a way. Royler is a legit badass, not many people would argue with that. His competition career (until Eddie retired him) was complete domination. So what happened? Was Eddie just so much better? I don't think so. Royler's big problem appears to be that he's hard headed and close minded. He trained using that specific upper-body game his whole life, against guys who play that exact same game. He mastered it.

But as soon as Eddie comes along and plays something complete different, Royler doesn't know what to do. His own game is neutralized, and he's being attacked in ways he doesn't understand and cannot predict. He's a relic of a by-gone age, playing what is now only a small part of a complete JJ game. The sad thing is that he's easily talented enough to be learning new stuff and improving his game. But to his own detriment he believes Jiu Jitsu is complete. It's all been done, and his style is the ultimate game to play. And so he loses, and goes down in history as the Gracie who got crushed by Eddie Bravo, twice.

Your matches looked like tiny little mini white-belt versions of that story. They didn't know what hit them.

Yeah I'm sure that none of these guys have really been put in the lockdown before, makes me want to practice it even more. I'll try competing a lot more this year than last year (2 times) and I'll definitely try to pull off some more 10'th planet stuff. Maybe next time I'll make a thread about an Invisible Croc or Gogo Clinch Sweep :))

its really insane how well the electric chair works on people who don't know its coming, and its equally insane how many people have never seen it before. I train in nyc, and am a 2 degree white belt (with 2 years of no gi training), and I catch purples with it on the regular. Drives them fucking crazy. The instructors at my gym wont roll with me anymore.

Yup, my instructor saw that I was very flexible and into Ryan's game, so he recommended that I check out Eddie Bravo as well and then proceeded to electric chair me like 50 times in our roll. I was so impressed with this completely different style that I dove straight into the DVD's and Matering the System. Very well developed and a very nice go-to bottom game. Haven't really checked out the top game twister game, I usually just try to smash from side control and hit a kimura lol.
