Yeah, TJ De Santis should have done a bit more research before describing Josh Hinger as a dark horse. When Mafra dropped out of EBI, Hinger was easily a contender to win the whole thing, based on brackets.

Still would love to know what happened to Mafra. Nobody talked about that really at all.

I mentioned this in a previous thread, but it's a write up a friend of mine made.

I had no idea that Hinger had basically been a pure no-gi guy up until purple.

Thanks for this man! I remember seeing old Bill Cooper and Hinger matches from back in the day at grappler's Quest and just realized recently that this was the same guy. Cool guy and good interview.
