Dude, you're really starting to worry me. Be sure to drink lots of water when you're doing this to yourself. Remember, the human body can withstand much, but that doesn't mean you should try to destroy it.
I actually think that's a very good question. I don't have an answer because I have yet to cut weight but plan on cutting from 155 to 145 for mma. I would not want to cut more than 5 last minute pounds though, any more really is over dehydration from what I've gathered. Goodluck with your weight cut as well as competition. Anyone else with weight cutting knowledge, feel free to educate us.
All I heard was weight LOSTED in SAUNA per HOUR and I thought the worst. How did everything go for you Roberto? Were you gased out quick or did you make weight? Or did you whoop some fools?
The most I've ever dropped in a sauna was 6lbs.
I've been fighting and cutting for years, and I've found that with full longjohns/plastics/sweatsuit (however you like to do it) and going 10 minutes on treadmill, then 10 in sauna and alternating like that for an hour will cut about 5lbs per hour. Now the closeer you get to finishing the cut, the less water your body has to lose (sweat) and this will decrease accordingly. And you don't need to drink water in the sauna, it defeats the purpose. I usually put 8oz of water in a container and make it last the last 24 hours before weigh ins. Also, eating a few pieces of ice will keep you from killing your whole family a lot of times.
Now with that said, i'm sure someone is going to get on here and say something totally different and argue and all that BS. Most i've ever cut was 20lbs...my buddy, who's wrestled his whole life cut 33lbs that same time.
And it certainly won't hurt to do some practice cuts at some point to see how your body handles it, everyone is different.
Don't worry Brandon. It won't be me that Hassles the Hoff!!! :D
But Unfortunately, Jon Watkins don't speak for the world yet. :(
I'd like to though...like a voice crying in the Fort Wayne wilderness...like a serene toy boat floating on still water...equal and harmonizing with nature and life...myself and other people. Free to interpret, but never completely pinned down....I feel like Sam Elliot in the Big Lebowski now...does anyone got a good sarsaparilla?
Don't forget that if you goal is to cut water you should be paying attention to your sodium intake. A high-sodium diet encourages water retention (i.e., the average American diet.). Cut back on your sodium wherever you can (and boost your potassium intake) and you'll have an easier time losing the water. You've still got to put in the time and effort, but you won't be working uphill against that sodium. :)
