Getting sponsored in jiu jitsu is super hard. MMA is a different story but still pretty hard. You need to hustle and hustle in every angle son.
You need to be placed in major events (nationals, well known tournaments) offer sponsors something in return of free gear/ % off their products (keep dreaming to get some cash unless you are retarded good and again you have to be marketable)
Usually you want to offer them visibility (patches on your gear, website links, drop their names in every conversations lol...)
You can also hit gyms, they are usually keen to have people competing to come lift or work on their cardio/conditioning at their place.
Big companies usually tie up their sponsorship programs with their financial year. Once a year offer so you gotta get your timing right.
So win competitions, try to end up in local newspaper shout out for sponsors, send letters to companies that you think can profit from you... hustle hustle hustle.

There was an episode some time ago on the Fightworks Podcast. You should listen to that - it had some good advice...
Bottom line: It's hard to get a sponsorship...

Gameness is sponsoring my Gym now. Sometimes they find you if you're playing the game long enough. But yeah what John said. Try to be genuine though too. Then they'll know you're ready to break your back for them.

Hustling is a true fact. It isn't as hard as you think, but don't expect top-name sponsors. Start at the very bottom. Some companies will be thrilled to let you wear some of their shorts, or a rashguard.
