First day of formal training
Due to living in desert for 14 years, car accidents , family issues , and work
i never really got around to training at a formal school until today
i walked in to class 10 minutes early with knots in my stomach expecting to be confronted buy a group of mma fighting cavemen going full noise lighting each other up left right and centre instead i was greeted with a warm smile handed a form and sat down and watch the kids have a roll and spoke to a father whos daughter was bullied in school so he brought her down to gain confidents it was cool to see a family atmosphere
when i handed my form back i was told that there are a few other new people starting today and the instructor would take us and and go through a few basic movements in the noobs class was me a guy called Mohammed and a young lady who's name i didn't end up going i was paired with mohammed to go though the drills (mount escape ,guard escape to side control ,mount from side control to americana and mount to arm bar ) it was time for open mat in which the instructor a purple belt by the name of ben would pick a partner for us
grabbing some water and watching the first roll i was keen as mustard to get in and get rolling first guy i rolled with was a purple belt buy the name of clint and i put up as much of a fight as i could but rolling in a gi (had the gi cherry popped people ) with a purple that knows how to pull a triangle from any where i was pretty much buggered i tapped twice in 10 minutes
next roll i thought i would go up against a white belt who's been there a lot longer then me ended up getting a guy buy the name of ash he gave me a few pointers of staying tucked up on my back and it was go time we rolled for five minutes and i got caught in a triangle from mount i was determined to not get tapped again next five minute where hectic from my mount escape to his attempt to arm triangle me (got the arm in and answered the phone thanks jarrad for that ) ash then tried to arm bar me from the bottom which i countered god knows how in the scramble ash turned away from me rolling over my leg and exposing his back seeing this i sunk in the anaconda lock and went for the rnc (ive been drilling my squeeze like a beast lately ) anaconda was locked in but i couldn't get his chin out of the way so i put the squeeze on his torso when i heard him breath in i went about 40 percent i dont think he was expecting or had it done before but he gasped and took both hands and tried to push down on my legs bang sunk in the rnc and went 20 percent and arched out while trying to slice his head off about 1 second later i got my first tap
after class we all lined up a couple of whites got there blues and had to run the gauntlet as i was leaving i got pulled aside buy the head instructor and he said he watched me and for my first day he was very impressed and hopes to see me back on thursday i cant express to you how good i feel right now and would just like to thank all the people i rolled with today i cant wait for thursday now cheers for reading
