I don't spend a whole lot of time browsing online forums and mayhaps this is common knowledge, but can someone please explain, or point me to a noob tutorial that describes, the various meanings of the icons that preceed each posting when browsing the "New Posts" in the forum?

Not completely sure, but Im guessing the first one is a hot thread. As in it has a lot of replies.
The second one being grey is one without any new replies since you last went on the thread.
The 3rd one will be a hot thread that you have posted in, then the next unique one will be a hot thread that has new replies in.
The blue one will be a thread without too many replies but that has new replies since you visited it.
