Where should i go to get my cauliflower ear drained? as far as the hospital or doing it myself (which i have not done before)
Do it yourself. tutorials on youtube, piece of cake.
I've had my ear drained probably around 10 times and always by doctor, so I would obviously recommend you to go to a hospital to get it drained.
But if you want or can do it by yourself you should remember to sterilize the ear well before draining it 'cause you don't want to get it infected.
Easiest way would be to just learn to drain it yourself because most likely you'll have to drain it couple of times before it becomes "normal" again.
my biggest problem was getting the needles - after someone showed me at the gym it was pretty easy. the "real-quick" answer is: 1) ice your ear to numb it a bit, 2) sterilize it, 3) stick needle in at a really big angle, voila.
Walk up tell them what you do and show the ear and say you dont have insurance and ask the pharmacist nicely works sometimes.
This is what I do as well. I go to medical supply outlets and skip pharmacies. Just point to your ear.
yea, last time i went to get some for somebody they were not for me... I told them I had a buddy who's ears needed draining but it didn't matter. I figured telling him that I too worked in a pharmacy for 6+ years and that I am now a nurse would make me sound like a douche. so, I just went to work and got some... just sort of aggravating
I had the same problem it took me about 10 minutes to convince them I needed it to drain my ear. I find it disturbing that pharmacists would rather some junkie use dirty needles than to just sell them some clean ones.
