I wouldn't care im straight and I roll with girls and it's no big deal so i don't see it being any different for a gay guy who rolls with me.
Not a big deal...all the students and schools I've seen are very professional. Students are there to learn.
this occurs to me every time some friend of mine tells me grappling and/or mma is homoerotic somehow. if you do the math, probably everyone here with a year or so experience has rolled unwittingly with a gay man at some point in his training. (by the same math i'm sure at least a couple of our favorite MMA fighters are gay). not to mention we (by we i mean men, not trying to exclude the ladies but appropriate for this conversation) all have rolled or trained in class with a woman. i don't think those girls need to worry about our getting aroused nor do we need to "worry" about the potential arousal or whatever of a gay partner, given the evolutionary biology involved -- we are in fight (or flight) mode, the last thing our bodies are concerned with is procreation. or, better put, our bodies are trying to save us from our current circumstances in order later to procreate. it's why when i take my cup off my balls are shriveled the fuck up - they're protecting themselves from injury in what our lizard brains interpret as mortal combat. so unless you live in the year 1200 and are worried you're gonna catch a bad case of gay, i'd like to think the folks of 10th planet are progressive enough to get over it were the possibility of rolling with someone openly gay to come up. personally i'd be against the don't ask don't tell thing. people need to get past this shit. maybe i find it a bit easier because in my childhood universe there were plenty of openly gay folks and had i turned out to be gay coming out wouldn't have been as daunting an experience as one might have in other societies, nevertheless, i'd hate to lose out on the someone's hard work and insights as a training partner or teacher just because he was afraid that i or my classmates would be intolerant of who he decides to fuck/love/marry/whatever.
i'd be interested to hear the perspective of someone from a place not so forgiving of other lifestyles though as i sometimes take for granted my tolerance.
As long as no advances are made i could care less. But you dont really see men or women trying to do anything inappropriate when they grapple so i dont see why anyone would expect any different from someone whos gay. Though i probably would like to know if the person i was rolling with was gay or not. Not because it would bother me.. but just like i wouldnt get a girl in north/south.. i would probably try to avoid certain positions just for my own comforts sake. i hope that doesnt make me sound homophobic :S
ok, perfect. Although I am not gay. I am bi-winning, but that is a different story. How do you guys feel about the church in Kansas the "God hates Fags guys". I am not a fan and I have a plan to bankrupt them. You ask, 3rdeye what is this plan. I will tell you. ok, so check this out. Firs off we need about 20 guys. We get a bunch of "I heart BOYS" signs, and dress is solid rainbow. We follow them around and protest them. For sure after enough shit talk, one of them will flip and attack us. When he does, whoever he attacks has to take a beating. After the beating is good enough and there is sufficient damage. Then pull him off. Then sue them. Any civil court in the country would love to take allllll of their money and give it to the one that took the beating for "pain and suffering". Then the one that gets beat gets 50% of the cash, the other 19 split the rest.
Actually Anonymous is already on there asses, so they should be fucked without our help. Though the cash would be nice....
Those worthless douchebags from Westboro tried to protest a friend of mine's funeral who died in Afghanistan. I went to the funeral expecting a possible trip to the holding tank, but they were headed off by some bikers before they got into town (reportedly). Either way, they didn't make it to the ceremony.
And on the topic of "rolling" with a homosexual, it's a non-issue. Who cares.
So long as everyone's professional, I don't give a crap about what you do to satiate your biological need to procreate, so long as it's consensual. If you happen to enjoy double teaming midgets wearing clown suits, that has no bearing on your ability to learn/train/teach JJ. We're all a big jiu jitsu family, and as we know, there's really no such thing as "normal." It's possible we have every race, sexual preference, culture, age bracket, gender, height, weight, hair color, etc in our small tight knit family. I respect everyone here, and everyone in our familia who I've never met so long as respect is given as well.
